#26964 - RE: Quality of postings -- postscript |
I'm back to qualify my rant just a bit.
Please understand that I am not discouraging posting to this forum. I'm just asking that a moment's thought be given before posting. On 8052.com, I probably have no right to ask that, since I am not even a frequent poster here, but am much more active on other Forums, so-called private maillists, and Usenet. However, it is my observation that people elsewhere seem to be more respectful of other people's time and effort on those non-8052.com venues. Not that I'm a "model citizen" or anything like that, but I personally strive to "boil-down" some of my replies to the something close to the lowest common denominator English-wise so that it's suitable for American English, U.K. English, and those whose native tongue is not English at all (but not necessarily those who apparently want to access the Forum on their Web-enabled cellphones). I perceive that other contributors here are reasonably trying to do the same. So, if others are putting forth that extra effort for you to understand us, it would be a considerate gesture for you to help us understand you, and that means no SMS, no local colloquialisms, etc. For example, the recent confusion regarding an (apparent) Indian convention to reduce "fundamentals" by a whopping two syllables to produce the new word "fundas". I'll now try to refrain from more opinionating, unless of course, my opinion is challenged, because my opinion is the "only true path" ;-) <wink-smile>. And if you all hate me now, tell me and I might go away ......................... or not. |
