I think the ethernet/dialup is just a driver level of the protocol. I'd assume the project would structure itself to support either and once the interface is defined, let the interested subgroups do the drivers for each.
Ethernet has some real potential in my market but I can see advantages with dialup too.

And I recall that someone ealier voiced an interest in dialup.
