We should be talking about primitive functions that can be implemented in assembler and used as modules for whatever language flavour people are using. I for one do not posess a 'C' compiler, nor do I want one.

Sure if anybody needs to extend the stuff beyond the lower levels they can do so, but make it independent of compiler flavour please.
