You told that your power supply is almost identical to Michael one's, and he is using wall wart. And this wall wart is protection class 2.

Then you have not seen much in your life. Just have a talk with a competent EMC tester. Then you will see that there is lots of other filtering and protecting stuff, like mains filtering and so on. A whole industry is producing such stuff. Is this really irrelevant for you?

You know what interwinding capacitance is? And what happens when you connect 0V of your power supply with PC ground, which is earthed?
