To be honest with you I also feel the schematic you posted had the potential to be misleading. The guy already knows he needs +12V on his 4051. Your posting does imply something different and that difference is actually stregthened by the quote that you and Rob have traded back and forth. If I had thought to post this schematic I would have off-loaded it to my computer and edited it into one suitable to the discussion at hand. Then the schematic would have been right on track. There is danger to just grabbing ideas and not having them fit corectly.
