#50657 - RE: Multiple OS?!?!?!
Responding to: ???'s previous message
"XP supports multiple operating system on same computer so you can (could have) two OS running on your computer."

Is that two OS running Simultaneously on the same PC?

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is what the original poster had in mind, but XP offers something similar to Mac OS X's "Classic Mode" where you are supposedly able to reboot to a Win2K or Win98 (I think) OS to run older programs.

It's been a while, but we tried this and I don't think it was helpful for running older DOS programs, just older Win programs. If I remember correctly, these are more emulators of the older systems that actually run in XP. I may be wrong - if anyone knows more, please correct me.

What I use instead are three separate drives, one each for Win98, Win2K, and WinXP. Would love to get rid of the 98, but we need it for backward compatibility on some of our projects.

Does anyone know of an RS232 emulator for Win2K and up that I could use to test our protocols? I've been using PROCOM on the 98 and would love to have a tool on the newer platforms. I will readily admit that I haven't looked too hard - been too busy for it.

Thanks,

Judy
