Hi Parviz,

The JVM spec is available: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/vmspec/

The original on-line spec appears now to have been replaced by a for-purchase book.

Lots of JVM stuff on the web, for example:

A little research should lead you to the same answer Steve gave above.
