I see your point. True, there is not much left of Java (apart from the syntax rules) if you skip all the libraries. Is it still JAVA? Well, even if one's vocabulary is limited to "Yes", "No", "Good" and "Bad", he would still be speaking english wouldn't he? Is this "JAVA" usefull? Some think it is, others may have other opinions. I think it is dangerous to call it JAVA as people tend to expect something like a full blown JAVA environment in an MCU with 128bytes of RAM and 4K Flash. Personnally I think that C is about as far as one should go in 8-bits embedded environment, as even C tends already to hide to much of the low-level hardware stuff (as we frequently see on this forum). JAVA may be interesting for the advanced user, but for a beginner I would call it a dangerous trap. regards |
