#62424 - RE: Worst of both worlds? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Let's face it, the 8051 isn't very well suited to 'C' due to its small stack
a problem nicely circumvented by not using the stack. but that doesn't mean that if it can be implemented on the 8051 and people are able to use it successfully for certain types of project that there is any valid reason *not* to use it, or that it is somehow *wrong*. In my opinion, using any processor that is not the best choice for an application is wrong. You often see here applications that would run beautifully on a x86 processor being wrestled into a '51. Since a basic x86 can be had for about the same price (at least last I checked) why would it be right to use a '51 when a x86 is so much better suited. Use the processor best suited for your job and live happily ever after. Erik |
