Being isolated from the hardware is exactly what you are trying to achieve in some situations,not usualy in embedded systems,however all this stuff about how bad java is for embedded systems is a little over the top in my opinion.There are many embedded systems running java,admittedly without a gui but thats beside the point.If you look at dallas semicondutors you'll even find an i-button running java.I think its a case of a bit of a kneejerk reaction from some people when you mention stuff that they dont like.
As for being trolled thats a little off the point as well if you ask me.
