That's RLL (Run Length Limited) encoding. Picking a nit here, but RLE is the proper term in this case. RLL is Run Length Limited used to break up or "limit" runs of consecutive zeroes or runs of consecutive ones in a bit stream. You will find it used for encoding data on disks, RF links, etc. |
