#64903 - RE: Atmel\\\'s programmer which ORCAD? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
A perfunctionary glance on the schematic seems to indicate that to make this work the PC software need to "grab the LP port by the balls".
That is not possible by simple means using newer versions of Windows. After Win '98 the Gatesians decided that smoothly running Office applications (as if the Gatesians ever made such a thing) was more important than what we play with in our embedded sandbox. Thus many things made for programming of PROMS, CPLDs and such ceased to work. The only programmers that still work satisfactory after that change are those that generate the timing etc. independently of the PC. It may not be needed any more, but we have an old PC in production running '98 just for programming Xilinx CPLDs. Erik |
