#65031 - ISP/IAP is the methode to be used!
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hallo Asok,

sorry for being late, but was a bit bussy.

Two possibilities:

1. You are not interested in building serious applications, only fabricating this programmer is your 'real' challenge.

Then, you can ask Abdul, whether he is able to give you a print of PCB. Take an older PC, which is as fast as the Atmel people had, when they produced their programmer. Also parallel port should provide same extra features, which are statetd in their 'manual'.
To make situation even more exciting, you can even change the hardware...

If by this methode you ever get what you want is highly questionable!!!!

2. You are not interested in spending time, energy and money to follow a totally questionable procedure, but you want to build up exciting applications, and you need a programmer which is 150% trustworthy.

Then, close this sad chapter and switch to a modern ISP/IAP microcontroller!

Asok, read the between the lines. If atmel does only provide incompatible, old fashioned orcad files, and if they do not at all made any update in the meantime (regarding modern faster PCs and their operating systems) you can expect, that atmel is not wanting you to proceed this way. That's my conclusion.

Situation with this parallel programming becomes worse and worse, since most manufacturers decided not to publish parallel programming timing schemes for ISP/IAP programmable micros any longer. Only well established manufacturers of professional programmers get this information. The quite clear reason for this is, that customer shall be softly forced to switch to ISP/IAP programming or at least use a reliable programmer!
By the way, if you have a flash micro, which can be reprogrammed many many times, makes it sense all the time to pull the chip from socket and to insert it afterwards again? Pressing PLCC into socket many times is a good methode for damaging internal bondings!
Fabricating a PCB, mounting and soldering smd devices has become a sience today. And it's not at all a good idea, to fizzle with PLCC sockets, which are misused as quasi ZIF sockets. Industry goes to very small micro packages, which are to be soldered directly to PCB. Then only ISP/IAP programming is possible.

ISP/IAP programming is the methode of the future, and I would recommend you to switch to it. May be Raghunathan, who is also living in India can help you to find distributors for according chips?

Good luck,
Kai
