I suspect that you find even one cable that gives you what you need that you won't look back!! Select a cable that is one of those with the 5 foot long thin flexible cable. Check also to make sure it has the Linux driver. Not all come with those drivers and some cables are stiff ugly things with clear jacketed foil wrapped cable.

I routinely use these USB serial cables even at my lab bench on my desktop computer....Why.?...ultimate convenience...the same dektop has RS232 ports in the back that are a bi**h to get to and yet the USB ports are ON THE FRONT PANEL of the computer.
