#78952 - Portable scopes Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I once had such a thing made by Fluke, now I have one made by Tektronix. Out of curiosity, are either of those accessible price-wise? I was doing some surfing looking for a scope and although all I need is a bench unit I ran into some neat portables out of curiosity I clicked on the link to find the price. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw it listed as something like US$50,000. I looked through the specifications but I didn't see anything that suggested it would prepare my coffee and bring me the morning paper each morning so I moved on... My needs for a scope are growing as I move into doing more hardware work rather than just software. I've been looking around but there's nothing to be found in Mexico. For the time being my father is going to send me a scope he built about 25 or 30 years ago. It certainly isn't going to be sufficient for all my future needs since he says he thinks it can only handle up to 5MHz, but it ought to be enough to get my feet wet so I'll know what I need when I buy a brand new scope. But that brand new scope sure isn't going to cost $50k! Regards, Craig Steiner |
