What you have here is not just a connector, but an assembly consisting of a connector shell, contacts, and wires.

As noted, possible sources of problems are:
  • Wrong wire type and/or size for the contacts;
  • Wrong contact type for the shell;
  • Incorrect tooling;
  • Incorrect tool use/setup.

    It could even be that the cable-end connector is not really a correct match for the board-mount header...
