The other way to stick with parallel bus is to use configurable port processors(if I can find some), byt in this situation can someone suggest buffer with open collector ports(for the other signals).
With configurable ports, you need no buffers, the output will be configured push_pull, all inputs will be open collector. Serial situation can work ok. Byt except the data/address bus i have 5 other signal lines. And i can't transfer them in software level (to transfer them over the serial bus). For example one of the line is critical halt(can't afford missing this signal or delaying it). Any suggestion how to escape from this situation. Probably som sort of serial+parallel bus will be the answer. But again i fall in the situation where i must connect 10+ devices in parallel. Are these signals not all from the master only? If i chose SPI(most atmel's 8051 has one) any suggestion how to realize the addressing of the slaves(CS signals) There are 4 to 16 decoders in the 74 line, that way you can address 16 slaves with 4 port pins, 32 with 5 (2 decoders and an inverter).
