If your kit is ready - go ahead, power it up and play! You can upgrade it for the RD2 later, if you want, any time - just simply drop in the new chip and upload the program.

The best thing on the (interpreted) Basic is that it works immediately - no hassle with compiling-linking-dowloading and stuff. OK it is slow and limited in many ways - but unlimited fun! :-)

My very first attempt was to write a clock (just displaying time the terminal window) and it was fun to modify it, am/pm/24 hour, make for setups etc. Then I tried to run the lunar lander - in fact it was the motivation to make the modification for FLASH editing I mentioned above. Not exactly Doom, but made me playing it a night trying to defeat it...

Sorry for my enthusiasm :-)

Oh yes, for the subject, with the RD2, if you don't want to attach external RAM, all 4 ports are fully available for the BASIC program (ex.RxD and TxD), simply as PORT0 through PORT3...
