Thanks. Stuff which I have done before that bordered on this were close to the finite state machine concept. A timer tick interrupt and a software counter are used to give time "slices" to each task, etc. The only requirement is that the task doesn't exceed the the time between slices.
I have an RTOS book written by Jean LaBrouse with code in C but I haven't used any of it yet but was looking at it the other evening so when Erik started his other conversation on the subject, I was very interested. Thus, Erik, now its your turn. What does, or does not, make an OS real-time? |
