As Erik often says, Multi,processing with a number of small, cheap 8051 derivatives is probably a far better idea that trying to kludge Multitasking onto a sinlge 8051... I couldn't agree more if I tried! As I see it (relating by analogy to a previous thread) multitasking, even when done well, is analogous to using a dual trace oscilloscope. You can argue about which is best, ALT or CHOP, and in any given circumstance either one might win out. But in the end, it simply can't compare to a dual beam oscilloscope. Similarly, multitasking will never compare to multiprocessing (or parallel processing as I learned it). And therein are two more cents. |
