#90213 - dev. board
Yes, I know. There are more development boards on the market than can be counted in a week.

Any how, I got an idea when I saw Michael Karas' reply in an other tread:

"I particularly like the ability to make "proto" boards that connect to the processor via the 96 pin DIN connector so I can make quick turn development setups without having to build the MCU portion"

The statement was made about one of the Silabs (cygnal) boards.

Well, exept for the more specialized 8051 derivates, all most any type is available in a std. PLCC 44 housing. And there is some de facto standard about the pin out.

So a nice little board could be made, containing nothing but a socket for the µC, a clocksource, a supervisorchip, a small PSU, a 64 pin DIN connector and a MAX 232 for ISP/IAP. Then you breadboard you switches, LCD's or what ever your next project needs, and start developping. Having the micropart done properly - 4 layerboard, decoupling etc. it will be quite simple, and there will be few things to check for errors.

Is this a god idea? How much are you willing to pay? I am NOT trying to make big busines here; if it is a good idea we could deploy "the 8052 development board" or something like that - exclusively supplyed through the 8052 store at a reasonable price?

Bad idea? Good idea?

Any comment apriciated!

Have a nice day!
