Since we are talking about it, why not use X10, its robust, reliable and simple, and pretty easy to implement.
Steve Steve, As far as I know X10, I remember it as something where you have to put a device in the outlet and then your consumer in that device plugged into the outlet. I know the device in the outlet can be controlled by sending commands along the supply circuit, but I don't find this an attractive solution. Everywhere, you have those 'adaptors' plugged in the outlet... Even more: you can't simply cut off the power on the outlet, you can only cut off the power on the consumer. In my case, I want to cut off the power on the wires going from the fuses to the outlets too. But again, maybe it has changed by now, I don't know for sure. Since I enjoy searching and developping the system my own, I don't find it a pity I have to put quite a lot of work in it. It's a nice project, it's for me and if everything will work fine at the end (... ;-)...), I will have the pleasure of using something that I've developped myself (with the help of you guys, of course...). It's a bit a matter of 'self-proudness' too, you know... Best rgds, --Geert |
