#91193 - Court decisions
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Jeff Post said:
IANAL, but since the subject is important to me, I've looked into the relevant law. Courts have again and again ruled that professionals have a right to earn a living, and therefore non-compete clauses are null and void. Sure, your former employer can sue you--anyone can sue anyone for any reason. But he'll lose.

I few years back I contacted an attorney about a similar matter. He said something very similar. You have a right to make a living, and no former employer can prevent you. They can sue you, but they will lose, UNLESS they can prove a malicious intent. If you copy their products and they can show that you willfully tried to take away their customers (and the time limit of your non-compete agreement has not expired) then you may be in hot water.

IANAL, but that is the advice of mine...
