#91440 - Other defunct 8051 manufacturers
Responding to: ???'s previous message

Everyone here talks about the 8051 "bible." I keep a copy of AMD's "Eight-Bit 80C51 Embedded Processors" databook in my desk because it's quite compact compared to the Intel ones. It appears to be printed on the same crappy newsprint type stuff though. Anyway you may be surprised to hear that it's dated 1990 on the front (copyrighted 1989 on the inside). To me that sounds pretty recent, but I'm sure the youngest members of the forum would disagree.

I have a similar book by MHS (Matra Harris Semiconductors) entitled 8 bit Microcontrollers and dated 1990. It has all three chapters of the Bible as well as app notes and data sheets. It says they signed an agreement with Intel in 1981 and subsequently manufactured the 8086, 8088, 8051 and 8052.
