This guy is asking about using 3.3V memory in a 5V system. Maybe you should contact him and suggest a trade.

Anyhow, both of you are trying to use "what happens to be on the shelf" which I would totally support for $100 parts. However using playtime to wrestle a $2 part into a circuit does not sound like a good idea to me.
