I would consider not having an IDE an advantage. So much is spent by the developers on their blasted IDEs that they do not have the time to fix the parts. Also with the blasted IDE you are forced to use THEIR editor, not a superior product like CodeWright. If any maker such as Keil makes the use of the IDE mandatory, I'll find another package.
