Because the dc voltage gets switched instantanously or as close to instantaniusly as the system bandwidth will allow,theoretically a square wave which is what you are producing effectivly, contains all the odd harmonics from 1 to infinity.This is why its impossible to switch a voltage in zero time because to do so would require an infinite bandwidth.The closer you get to switching in zero time the higher the bandwidth required.
