Related to port pins:
I want to know what happens if input voltage of a pin which must be checked periodically was about 1...2 volt
read the specs and you will find little nuggets of wisdom such a Vih and Vil both with min and max values.

In my mind the mcu must goes to hanging state! If you are neither below Vil(max) or above Vih(min) you will get "something", no spec whatsoever will tell you what. The MCU has no means of detecting what and thus can not do anything but to give you a '1' or '0'.
