I don't think Bert has a problem creating the needed precise timing in PC, if he claims he has 5ms delay now. While PC, notabene with WinXY fitted, is not intended and not quite suitable for this level of "real-time-ness", it is not impossible to achieve sub-ms precision in timing events (with maybe ocassional dropouts, which the network protocol must be tolerant for).
The issue that made me recommend a master is not the PC, not the windows, but the fact that any 232 to 485 converter must base the turn on a timeout after the last transmit bit. A certain device is known by an abreviated name, the full name is "one shot in the foot". Erik |
