I have been getting different suggestions but came to a conclusion ... I am going to use an 8751 and am going to use PORT I/O.
I have the timing diagram shown below and am going to try to explain what i plan on doing.



I am going to use this schematic. (Believe it is correct)



My plans are to "manually" set the ALE pulse from the 8751 when the address is ready to be loaded into the ADC. Then, make STATE high
to tell the converter to start a conversion. Then make EOC low when conversion is started and HIGH at the end. Then send a HIGH to the OE,
to turn on the outputs of the ADC. Does this sound like its going to work?

This has been a WHOLE days worth project ... thank you so much for all your help.
