Maybe Erik, you can explain, which problems you faced with the Atmels.
it was about 1993 and I do not recall in detail, but it was related to concurrent interrupts and interrupt en/disable.
I do think to recall that there was something related to "the instruction following reti and .. will always be executed mechanosn. Again it was loooooong ago.
