#118881 - A resounding NO. I use synchrono Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Since the 805x serial channel is not only Asynchronous, it's not a UART. I'm not sure what it is, but it's not a UART, though it can function as one, with some limitations, perhaps.
If you use the RCAP, timer 2 is not a timer. Let us not get into making every darn name that match in 99% of all cases need an appendix. I'd hate if every darn time 'UART' appear in "the bible" it was replaced by "UART except in mode 0". Genauigkeit can hurt. As for that ultra-high RS-485 ASYNC at 460bps I'm not that slow, it is 460kbps you're wasting several bits per character in ASYNC format. Wouldn't you rather have all the bandwidth at your disposal? A resounding NO. I use synchronous (SPI) "inside the box" for point to point but never outside. Asybchronous has many advantages for distance transmit. I can easily live with the "wasted" 4 bits to gain the advantages of a 9 bit RS485 data bus for the typically 5 devices on the bus. erik |
