I prefer to work in Windows OS. That's your first mistake. But why? Why should anybody, professional or not, spend weeks to months from his precious time to learn all what's necessary for everyday's work on a new OS? Why should anyone spend weeks to months rebooting, reinstalling after a virus attack, putting up with slow zombied Windoze machines, etc, ad nauseum. Linux just runs, and gets the job done. Using Windoze is the computer equivalent of living in the stone age. Not to mention all the new crap you'll have to put up with in Vista, such as Draconian Restrictions Management, more effective MS phone home and spy on you software, even more viruses and malware, etc. Every time I have to work on Wincrap, it takes several times longer than doing the same job in Linux. Most of the time I need to write s/w for Windoze, I cross compile in Linux. Sure, you'll get the job done eventually in Windoze, but why put up with all the nonsense that makes it take much longer? Lastly, a competent engineer can come up to speed with Linux in about 2 days, not months. |
