Your overly complicated 'method' (quotes deliberate) does not, in any way require you screwing with the clock. The only signals you need to control is port output and the data and address ports.

I totally disagree with your 'method' but the way to do it is to switch PSEN to some other chip that simply contain at addtress zero a jmp $. That way all ports will be high and you can wire-or your line printer port signals to the lines.

It is worth experimenting. Sometimes you just have to go by your own instincts instead of datasheets.
