#134015 - a bit of a chuckle? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Actually, rather than asking us questions, just keep posting your 'new and improved' ideas. I use these to demonstrate to the young engineers at the office how not to do things. I also get a bit of a chuckle from it.
In this thread I have, at times, felt like crying and, at times had a laugh loud enough to make the guys in the neighboring offices ask "what is so funny". What is really sad is that Mike is not the only one. Most of todays youngsters do not outgrow the "I know it all BETTER" as the rest of us did - eventually :). I did, in my younger years, - somtimes reluctantly - accept that those with experience knew more than me. It seems that today "I have 'blinky' running" is supposed to qualify the person as an expert. Is it that it is not 'politically correct' to say "that is stupid", or "you are an idiot doing this" that has led to this or is is the supposed duty not to hurt someones feelings that has created this situation?. NOW, with what is proposed in this thread as a blatant exception, let me not state that a different idea necessecarily is a bad one. I has happened that a puppy has taught this old dog a new trick. What is missing in so much of todays 'proposals' is that they are not thought through before they are proposed. Not to mention that when the propopser is informed "this is way more complex/difficult/costly than the usual solution" it is met with scorn. Erik |
