1: never called them directly, but local reps get back to me in timely manner and appear helpful

2: we use version 1.36 in a "make" environment using commandline as called from the make utility so I would have to say yes you can. I can't imagine commandline options being different for different devices. (our compiler is for M16C/62P)

We use version 1.36 for M16C/62P series. They are up to a later version that our main development have just cleared for use for the rest of us. From what I hear and have seen, you cannot go from my version to the latest one without a little bit of the learning curve, thouhg my experience is limmited to what I have mentioned above.
