#137947 - you are a lucky man

When they say, "That doesn't matter, it just has to work" you should close your briefcase and walk away.

Richard,

If you can do that - and I have no reason to believe you can't if you said this - you are a lucky man.

Most of the time, it's me who has to come up with at least an outline of a spec, based on very vague ideas of the bosses, clients, whomever (the good news is that they are aware of this situation and are willing to discuss and provide continouos feedback). I am trying to do something which could be perhaps called feasibility study ("stitch something up"), but too often this turns out to be the solution itself, or the reason why not to continue the case.

When it comes to some real hardware design, I often rely on those more experienced than me. I've never seen the "factor 2" (which sounds as a very good idea generally), but usually a mixture of "this just fits" and "oh, we have plenty of that"... :-(
