Idea nice but not for all embedded aplyable especially for systems where the power resources are quite limited.
The more such is the case, the more adamant you have to be in stating, written and signed in blood, "no changes possible, once we start". Basically you can take two approaches: a) "what is specified before we start is IT" or b) "the idiots, do not know what they want, let's make sure that we can accomodate them when they find out" if b) you MUST state up front IN WRITING "the scedule is based on the specs as they are ANY change will lead to a scedule extension".
