#143014 - I am getting tired
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Richard,

I am getting a bit tired from repeating myself. If you plan to drop over to goo'ol' Europe one day in the near future, what about meeting over a well cooled glass of beer or any other beverage of your choice - or, for that matter, a regulated power source, scope and a bunch of parts and wires, if you want - and discuss the matter to the most exhaustive detail.

But, until then, to keep you busy: you are insisting on us providing scientific proofs of how reset really saves our b*** in our designs (which it does) - what about you providing the opposite? So far, if I remember well, you only found proof that an mcu without a reset IC, really suffered FLASH corruption under insufficient (or otherwise incorrect) power. What about trying the opposite: get the same '51, tie its reset pin to VCC; and, under various clock conditions (crystal, external oscillator) play with the supply voltage. If the FLASH gets corrupted under such conditions, you are straight right - the reset isn't worth a penny; and our discussion is over (except that I will then ask you to try the same with all possible '51 derivatives we can get :-) ).

Have fun!

Jan

PS. ... oh, and if you will come with the proof of that the '51s are really a crap, we can then go to those manufacturers and blackmail them that we won't go public with the details if they'll pay the internet connection bill for Craig, to compensate the bandwidth our lengthy discussions take... :-)
