The converters by Aten work well, but they are costlier. The cheaper stuff by Bafo and others are quite unpredictable.
You may need to change the VB code to cater for the virtual port. The specific issue is that if you plug the adaptor in another USB port of the same PC, then it may be assigned the next comm number. So now you may have 2 virtual comm ports but only one functional. For this you will have to add a discovery function to find out which port is actually present. |
