I think you misunderstood the posting that Per Guldmann made. At the FTDI web site they have an on-line store where they sell all manner of end user boxed products. Many of these are sold also through other channels such as Mouser.

Some of the products offered at the FTDI shop are developed originally by DLP Design where they are then sourced in Asia. http://www.dlpdesign.com/
