I agree it's difficult (and less prevalent) to grab resources like comm ports, but it can be done. A well know maker of PDAs did it by using a custom driver to scan all the ports to see if the PDA had been plugged in. You can bypass the Windows rules at the driver level!
One of the earlier postings could be interpreted in this way. I just want to say that if that was the intent, then I don't like it. |
