#155550 - I got that later on from your next post Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Indeed 'whine' is a good pun :-)
But the reason I made my post was entirely for creative reasons. I knew when I got my dev tool that windows was the only platform where it would be supported. But that curious person in me refuses to believe that it would be impossible to make the same board work on linux :-) I agree for the professional, there are not many equivalents of Keil on linux. But for hobbyists like me, I am sure asem51/sdcc and prog8052 would do just fine. Problem is, I want to avoid soldering another board and want to re-use my windows based board. To reiterate, I personally believe linux is a much better OS than windows, but for embedded hobbyists like us the OS is just a 'host'. It is the 'target' that matters at the end of the day :-) It was a personal interest in making it work on linux, that made me post this ;-) regards, Seemanta |
