#155605 - Thanks for your encouragement, but Responding to: ???'s previous message |
are you saying that:
1. I release my reverse-engineered software to the public? Well, I could do that but won't that be illegal? And tantamount to criminal prosecution? Agreed, that I could do that in thousands of possible ways so that no one could trace me, but even then I don't want to do that. 2. About the actual act of 'reverse-engineering' the piece of software, I can't comment on it further since this is a public forum and I have a right to be silent since anything I say can be used in a court of justice ;-) 3. I already made a post in the manufacturer's 'support' forum and offered to port their software over linux, free of charge. No response from them so far. 4. I agree, but I made a choice to use their product even though I knew that linux would probably not be supported in the near future. And I must admit, I am impressed by their quality of HW. However, it is purely an academic venture that I was exploring the possibility of using linux as my 8051 development environment. I imagine a development environment of svn-asem51-sdcc in conjunction with the 'ported' software would be cool to work with! Looking forward to hear your comments. regards, Seemanta |
