#155662 - I have two updates: and they are happy ones !! Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi everyone,
I have two updates to make and I am sure everyone will be happy to hear them: 1. It has been a few days since I successfully deciphered the serial protocol between the windows SW and the board. And also created a linux port of the same. Yeah it works, too! ;-) But what I did is NOT illegal. Why? Read on. 2. I called up the sales representative of the vendor (who sold me their board) and offered to write a linux port for free, after signing an NDA if necessary. But what he told me was even better. It seems their product does not include any 'propreitary' protocol. The protocol is documented at http://www.kmitl.ac.th/~kswichit...2work.html After having a look at it, I realized it was indeed the same thing that I managed to 'reverse-engineer'. I already spoke with with the maintainer of the webpage mentioned above webpage and he consented to use his 'protocol'. Soon I shall release the source code of my linux programmer along with a GUI client if possible. The command line client is already operational though ;-) The other good news is, since this is a generic protocol, anyone using the easy-uploader(as in the webpage above) could use my linux port because the underlying protocol is same. Thanks a lot for your help in answering my queries patiently. regards, Seemanta |
