Why not use some 8 bit serial in open collector drivers such as the A6821 made by Allegro
why not use the right thing. Allegro has 8 bit serial in constant current drivers such as the A6275 which is a MUCH better choice for driving LEDs. Using a CC driver makes the intensity equal even vith variances in Vf for the LEDs and you do not need series resistors.
