I am still trying to figure out where the short could be. A double sided pcb with a lot of viases = a pain in the arse. Anyway I soldered the decoupling capacitors 100nF (ceramic not electrolytic, follwing Eric and Kai Klass advice). Will post an update in about 1/2hr
