Guys I removed the micro and was making a continuity test on all the 89c51 pins (I'm using an IC socket) between ground and each pin to check out any possible shorts and the bloody circuit drawn 1.6Amps !!!!!!!! I switched off the power supply immediatly.

I proceeded to do a continuity test between the ground plane and Vss and *drum roll* theres a short between supply to ground somewhere! The most logical approach to this problem is one either 1) go kill myself
2) commit suicide
3) kill myself?
4) search for the short

I'm choosing option 4 but if it proves unsuccessful I may consider bthe other three. KK then lets start searching for the short (again). :(
