#3770 - RE: my conclusion |
to all--
no doubt the debate--however (leaving my own works aside)-- look at the hardware (and code) of a sinclair zx80 computer with the mini-basic--'taint much glue there..and the bit manipulation of the z80 is only 240 separate instructions (you must be thinking of the 8080 that had none).(240 is the bit stuff only) the way to do a micro.* is to have the rom shadowed by a ram.. then on power up copy the rom into the ram then run on the ram, with no distinction between code/data memory because all is the same and recursive techniqes are easy to realize. by correct design,a low chip count design can be attained with the z80. the aduc812 would be better if adi would have used a z80 core (20 mhz) a ctc,pio,usart,--instead of the sfr, dedicated ports for these or have them memory mapped for faster manipulation. the only negative aspect is the hardware mult/div inclusive with the '52 not in the z80. to bad that in my arsonal of stuff is not the capability to slap some dies in a pack, hook 'em up,and make available...you guys would love 'em. reg-jack |
