I dunno about tht,there are some problems with that idea but the interesting thing is that with multi million gate fpgas becoming common then major sillicon manufacturers are trying to push for system on a chip type dsigns becoming the way to go,so they want to see the processors being embedded in the fpgas and I think you will see processors becoming only available as softcores,certainly at last years intel developers conference that was the idea they were trying to sell.
